Eight weeks and we are counting down to the start of Camp Croppin’ Calgary 2008. As organizers of these conventions, we find these next few weeks to be particularly exciting leading up to the convention and since we know all about the fun that await our campers at the convention, its hard to sit back and wait for April 11th and 12th to arrive!

In the coming weeks, you will receive newsflashes on the more practical information for Camp Croppin’. Subjects like how to get organized so that you can make the most of this awesome convention, what to bring to classes, even what you will find to eat at the hotel and details of the food concession they will be offering for your convenience. So. . . , dust of those backpacks, sharpen those pencils and get ready to take notes in the coming weeks until the start of Camp Croppin’.

Registration Packages:

For everyone who has registered for Camp Croppin’ Calgary 2008, we are currently preparing your registration packages. These packages will include general information about what to expect at Camp Croppin’ and also your name badge and class tickets. You will receive a name badge holder to insert your name badge in at the door when you arrive at the convention, and your name badge will be your formal identification for entering the ballroom during the convention. Your name badge can also make you a “winner” at the convention so don’t forget to bring it with you. Sorry . . ., we’re not telling the details on how it can make you a winner . . . you will just have to trust us!

Your registration package will be mailed so it will arrive by late March, you should have them in plenty of time for the convention. Please note-you can still add classes up until April 4th , but tickets for any classes you have added after March 1st will need to be picked up at the Camp Croppin’ information desk.

It is also IMPORTANT to remember to arrive with all your camping buddies so that when we open the doors for campers to enter and set up camp you will have the opportunity to choose seats “together”. (To be fair to all our campers, there is no saving of spaces). Since the convention is completely sold out, if you arrive late for the convention with a large group of friends that you wish to sit with, seating availability will be sparsely spread and the chances of finding even two seats together will be almost impossible! When you arrive there will be “colors” posted on a pole on the centre of each table. Each person will need to take a color and keep it inside their name badge holder along with their name tag. Some lucky campers will receive prizes for their color so be sure that you don’t lose yours. When you are looking for a table, just look at the poles in the centre and it will show you how many spaces are still available at that table. There is a combination of round and long tables. You ladies told us what you wanted and we listened!! We have now added more long tables!! This will give more campers more room to work at, however, if you are planning on sitting at one of these long tables, we ask that you bring the minimal amount of scrapbooking supplies that you will need as there is very little storage space at the long tables!! Each table accommodates six campers. There is much more personal space at the round tables. Try to decide in advance the kind of table that you want to scrapbook at so that you can go directly to that table when you arrive with your camp buddies.

Also, we have a “donations” box where you have the opportunity to donate your unwanted tools and excess scrapbooking supplies (books, magazines, etc) to kids at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. We all know that kids can make treasure out of anything, our unused scrapbooking supplies can provide more than just treasure; they can help them encapsulate memories through the Therapeutic Scrapbooking Program at the Hospital. As you sort through your scrapbooking stash, please gather a little collection of any unwanted stickers, papers, etc together in a bag and we will be pleased to transport these for you via our donations box, to the kids at the Alberta Children’s Hospital. Let’s spread a bit of the fun of scrapbooking around!

Don’t forget to check out the details of our page layout contest on our website at www.scrapbookersparadise.com  nd have your layouts copied and ready for Camp Croppin’ along with a $3 cash donation per layout. You will have the chance to win awesome prizes, and remember all monies received from this competition are donated in whole to the Therapeutic Scrapbooking Program at the Children’s Hospital.

Watch for our next newsflash coming out in March!!

Thank you for registering for Camp Croppin’ and we look forward to seeing you in Calgary on April 11th and 12th.

Sincerely,
Your Camp Croppin’ Team
