Memories Deserve More Than A Shoebox TM

Using Ribbons on Scrapbook and Altered Art Projects

Ribbons are one of the easiest ways to embellish and add a little pizzazz to any scrapbook and altered art project. Here are some fun ideas for your next project!

One of the most obvious and yet overlooked use for ribbon is bows! Bows can convey all kinds of sentiments. A big pink bow is sweet on a little girls scrapbook page. A tiny ivory bow on a shabby chic page adds a hint of elegance. Try out different colors and different sizes to experiment with the feelings they portray.

Use ribbon as a horizontal or vertical accent behind all of your page elements.

Tie a small piece of ribbon in a knot and adhere it to the page for a quick little accent. Add a charm for some fun and movement!

Set a row of eyelets across the side of a page and then weave the ribbon through. Experiment with how you weave the ribbon -- a simple up and down run or wrap the edge of the page by only putting the ribbon down through the holes.

Use a dental floss threader to pull ribbon through small holes. (Dental floss threaders can be found on the toothpaste aisle of your grocery store.) After trying out a dental floss threader, you will wonder how you ever threaded ribbons and fibers without one!
