Memories Deserve More Than A Shoebox TM

Scrapbooking Resolutions

Each December, while enjoying all the celebrations of the season, many of us will take more than a minute or two to reflect upon the past year and resolve to make things better in the next. Maybe you want to lose weight, quit smoking, spend more time with your children … or maybe you want to capture more of your memories in an album by beginning to scrapbook at last!

If you haven’t resolved to change a thing about how you approach the craft, read on for some tips and techniques to help you make – and keep – some scrapbooking resolutions for the New Year.

First, you need to decide what your focus for 2008 should be. Maybe you want to make more time for cropping, take a class or two, start a scrapbooking club. Or, consider the following:

Organize your photos and supplies.

Establish a daily, weekly or monthly layout goal: Maybe you want to do a page a day, two pages a week, or five a month … maybe you want to finish one album over the course of the year. If this motivates you, pick your finish line and press forward.

Submit your layouts for publication: Most magazines, print and online, love to receive reader layouts and many will publish those in future issues. You just have to try. You never know, you might just be in a position to join a design team this year as well.

Learn (and use) new techniques or things outside of your comfort zone, and avoid being complacent. You can applie this to all aspects of my life including scrapbooking, journaling, picture taking and creating.

The key to achieving your goals is to commit to them initially, use the right tools to fight obstacles that arise along the way, and periodically check in to assess how you are doing.

Happy New Year!
