How to Create a Resist Using Stickers

Here’s a fun way to play with your paints, or use up mismatched stickers! Simply use the stickers (I used letter stickers, but many clearcut shapes will also work) to create a resist.

Materials Needed:
Cardstock
Paint and paint brush
Letter Stickers (repositionable or temporarily repositionable)
Craft Knife

Step One: Lay your stickers as desired on a thick piece of cardstock. Make sure to press stickers evenly onto the page, to discourage paint from seeping underneath the sticker as you go. I specify thick cardstock because the paint may cause thinner cardstock or paper to warp.

Step Two: Coat with paint. You may choose to do a light brushing, or a complete coat, depending on the effect you wish to achieve.

Step Three: While the paint is still damp, use the edge of your craft knife to carefully lift a corner of the sticker, until enough is off the page to grasp with your fingertips.

Remove sticker from the page. Repeat with all stickers. Now the pattern or color of your cardstock below has been revealed, in the shapes of your stickers. (If any paint bled underneath part of a sticker to create a smudge, wait till the paint dries thoroughly, and scrape the excess carefully with the craft knife.)
